I need to get a nice cheap surround system for my room. We're talking $120 tops for all my components. Wires not included in the price. I've got a nice 30" CRT TV with the R,W,Y RCA plugs. Now I would like to get it so my DVD player, Xbox and just regular TV are in surround or Dolby Pro Logic II(for the Xbox) all the time. Someone point me to a decent speaker pack with a multi-device hub/reciever so all this can be hooked up at once.

I'd like to avoid getting a special adapter for my Xbox as I already modded my Xbox wires to be separate for component out to my CD player for the speakers.

Also, I would like to know how to hook it all up and some tips on wire management. Pics and diagrams are welcome.

What model soundcard do you have?

(this should be posted in amps and recievers)

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.

I've got an X-Fi Xtreme Music. But I'd like to avoid using my computer at all for this. We're talking a discrete surround system for my entertainment center only.

I've been working a bit with my current speakers. I have two huge Teac free standing flat panel speakers and two RCA mini boxes with two speakers and a tweeter each. I'm not too worried about central origination on my voices.

Could I put the two teacs in front and my mini boxes in back? I found out my dad has an old stereo reciever with "surround" capabilities... worth a try? It's got hook ups for 4.1 quadrophonic and it does surround well enough. Anyone feel like pointing out a decent $50 subwoofer?

The reciever has basic Bass, Trebel, balance knobs. Will this allow me enough control or should I splurge for a newer one with low-mid-high sliders? If it'll work well enough I'd like to stay with what I have. I'm out for a cheap surround solution not a new system.
