OK I know the benefits of the 1.5 and the ones that are 2.0+. I am buying a PSP in the next week and what i want to know is....

Say you get a 1.5.... is there a program that can upgrade to 2.whatever to beable to use the internet browser(mainly for gaming only), then beable to switch back to the 1.5 to use all the features you can add to it?

its called devhook, and you can find it at psp-hacks.com. go to downloads - firmware - then firmware emulators. I recommed using one of the ultimate installers as it places all files on your psp for you.

1.with that program i can use the browser to surf the web and for gaming?

2.And will the emulator continue to work with the constant different versions of firmware? (like will i need a patch etc.?)

3.so to do this i would need to purchase the 1.5 version otherwise the emulator won't beable to have an effect right?

With DevHook you can emulate any firmware (except 2.80) on your 1.50 PSP. You load it like you load any other homebrew and choose the firmware that you want to emulate. The PSP will reboot in the selected firmware and will have all of the capabilities that the actual firmware would have if you had upgraded. To exit the emulated firmware, hold the power switch until it shuts off, then your back to 1.50!
You can downgrade any firmware to 1.50 as long as you don't have a TA-082 motherboard so it doesn't matter what PSP you buy (just check if you have a TA-082 MoBo, if you do, don't buy it)

There are no games that need higher than 2.71 firmware. But when they start being released a newer Devhook will come out and allow you to emulate the firmware that is needed. They have a decrypter for 2.80 and 2.81 so it is only a matter on time before they release the new devhook :)

ok one final question...I think i am going to buy a 1.5 psp off of ebay but the shipper is based out of hong kong...the PSP are universal right or would i need to talk to the seller first? The only thing he listed as japanese is the manual but he gives us a link to the english manual for printing sooo my personal guess would be that they are the same.

Everyone one who has helped has been awesome. I learned a lot thanks again.

Why dont you buy one from someone in the US(thats if you live in the US), but its your money. I will have to say that the PSP will come in japan language so ask the seller to change it to english before he ship it because you will not be able to change it if you dont understand japanes and find out more about the japan virsion of the PSP. It can be diferent from the US virsion(e.x firmware). But find out more about the japan version of the PSP because I dont no a thing about them.

make doubly sure he says that the psp is in english. the manual isnt really that big of a deal as u can find out everything u want to know about the psp and more here at aD.
