I was out last night and when I came home, the tv sound is working, but what I can only describe as an internal screen, not the one you can touch, has a very large crack across the bottom of it almost the full length of the screen, and a crack from the bottom to several inches up the screen to the left side.
It is guaranteed and I have approached both argos, and hitachi uk. no reply from hitachi uk yet. The screen is less than 5 months old, Argos are claiming it is not covered, that is not the issue I seek help with.
I would just like to be informed if anyone with wise, or better knowledge than I on plasma screens could try and diagnose the fault, what has blown inside for example. I am lossed and know next to nothing on plasma screens.

As always thanxs to any that offer help and advice

If it's under warranty, it should be covered. I'd be in somebody's face!
Good luck!

I understand...........
Quote:
Argos are claiming it is not covered

That's why I mentioned it.

Are there small kids in the house? Wife hit it with vacuum handle while cleaning? Extreme temps? A pet jump up and knock something against it? I don't know of too many reasons the glass would break, on it's own. If none of these happened, it's probably a factory defect. Can't imagine what else it would be......

yeah, I will sort argos out first thing monday. I paid £350 for a 3 year warranty so they will be sorting out this problem.

No, no kids pets. I left it on last night why I went out for a drink, at 9pm it was fine, midnight sound woeking, but the internal screen was cracked in 2 places and no more picture, very strange

It's got to be a defect, of some kind.
I hope you can get it taken care of, without a lot of grief!

@daost ... after five months, you must still be under the original warranty but with those three years, extended warranties ... ALWAYS keep all the paperwork for it in a special place ...not just the dates covered but also whatever paper spells out exactly what is covered.

Companies, supposedly "respectable" companies have tried to screw me three times already. It's happening so often that they're trying to draft laws to protect the consumer. Most recently, it happened to me with Hewlett Packard. I bought the three year extended warranty with my computer which covered everything in the original one year warranty that came with the computer. After some two years after I bought it, the hard drive bit the dust. Like the other two, HP tells me that I'm wrong and I never bought the extended warranty. Like the others, they demanded "proof" that I bought the extended warranty. (Pretty smart because I lot of people don't save stuff but fortuately, I save everything). So I had to fax the original paperwork to them. Then they tell me that the "small print" spells out that I must present the original bill of sale and that they wouldn't honor it without it. Fortunately, I had that too. Then they tell me that all I really bought was an extended warranty on phone support but it did not cover the cpu or any of the hardware or software and it was up to me to PROVE it did....wouldn't you know it, what the extended warranty covered was printed on yet another paper made to look inconsequential and unimportant...so you'd throw it out, I'm sure. Fortunately for me, I had that too! This took about two weeks. They even tried to screw me again when the new HD was delivered; I forget the specifics but I had to send the old one over night express or I would have been billed just over $400 for the cost of the new one ($400 for a $75 hard drive). I'll never by a hewlett packard product again ... just out of general principle; I'm sure they all do it!

Point of my chatty story: if you have to use your extended warranty, make sure you've saved every single damned piece of paper!
