I am trying to burn an audio file and it is too large to burn. How do I shrink the file in order to burn it onto a cd+r?

might want to break into 2 disc, could try mp3. other tools, check out doom9.net

What if I use a CD-R? I am being told by Nero Premium to use that. Does that have a certain typr of formatting?

what type of file is it...is it an mp3 of an entire album?

next question is how large is it? if it is only 4 or 5 minutes over 80, it is possible to do an overburn on an 80 min CDR if your burner supports it.

also, they do many 90 minutes audio CDRs that I've been able to play fine in any stand alone CD player. you can get them at allmediaoutlet.com

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

The file is mp3 and about one hour and 25 minutes.
