If I HAD to use a p2p app, it would be Frostwire:

http://www.frostwire.com/

Torrent's are the way to go!

Some good advice to you would be to experiment with them, if you haven't already.

Heres some good clients:

All clients do the same thing, its all down to personal preference at the end of the day, there are some simelarities and differences
but its personl preference that win's it, I prefere uTorrent myself.

BitCommet:

http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm

Azureus:

http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

uTorrent:

http://www.utorrent.com/download.php

ABC [Yet Another Bittorrent Client]

http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/

BitTornado

http://bittornado.com/

Allways make sure you run Peer Gaurdian 2 when downloading off anywhere to keep yourself
safe, Its pretty much essential.

http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

Pick your client, then you can use any of theese torrent search engines to get your files:

http://www.isohunt.com

http://www.torrentspy.com/

http://www.mininova.org/

http://www.torrentbox.com/

You'll find the best stuff at private trackers, theese sites are invite only, you need to recive an invite from someone on the inside to gain mebership,WARNING You are not allowed to ask for invites at AfterDawn.Com.

Stick with public trackers (for now) , the list of them goes on really, once you've installed your client, just search for what you want in any of thoose sites and download the .torrent file, TomMelee's BT Bible will turn you to BT newbie ---> BT Guru, it explains everything else you need to know, you can download his great guide here:

TomMelee's BT Bible 1.2

http://www.plucky.org/download-central/p2p-tutorials/

That should cover everything, good luck!

Hey there,

Well, you have been mis-informed about Bit Torrent.

If you do not wish to upload, simple stop the torrent, it takes only one click to do this, but its HIGHLY reccomended you do share, if you do not you'll never stay at any private comunity :-p

As for an explanation on encrypting traffic, read my guide here:

...:::::*rav009's Bit Torrent Safety & Privacy Guide*:::::...(NEW!!)

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674

Use the methods stated there for high level's of safety whilst using BT.

BT has god knows how much advantages over any other p2p file sharing app out there, huge selection, great speeds, cleaner, etc, etc, so give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

Good luck.

Hey FX5200,

If you're after a P2P Program, I would suggest Bearshare Pro. It downloads at lightning fast speeds exceeding 2.4 Mbps (depending on sources) on and a 1 MBps Internet Connection. ;)

IMO It's a pretty good p2p program though it's limited to Windows XP operating system.

http://www.bearshare.com/

You can try it out, there's a free version available but I think the free version comes with pop ups, the speed is great though. ;)

Bearshare Lite, is not:

CLEAN
I, myself would'nt touch anything on that page you linked to, you probably don't know this but its rated "red" by MacAfee Site Advisor..

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/bearshare.com?ref=safe&aff_id=0

Read for yourself ^^^

I'd stick to FrostWire, its free and its clean :-)

Yeah, no worries.

I heard bearshare (free version) came with adware but no viruses.

I use Bearshare Pro myself and Norton Internet Security doesn't complain. Anyways what I like about Bearshare is the Fast downloads.

Downloads Mp3's in ~6 seconds. :)

But recently, I've been thinking of using Bit Torrent programs.
They're alot safer and secure.
I've downloaded Azureus but I'm having troubles configuring it.

I've read many threads such as this one:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/335210#1962028

and people claim on getting speeds of over 100KB/s.
And I'm only getting speeds of about 15kb/s - 30kb/s.
I've tried following that guide, but no luck.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
