Hello,

About a month ago a storm seemed to blow up my modem supplied by AOL.
Because of the new modem I had to install an Etheret card so I got a PC Line one which was cheap but when installed it seemed to slow down the PC and eventually froze. So I took it back and replaced it with the Belkin Desktop PCI card. Now I've install this and it still has the same problem, I put it in the same slot as the first, tried it in another slot and still it freezes up. I've checked the CPU fan which still works and runs the temp at 48 degrees which it has always ran at and the case temp hasn't changed. I've cleaned the fan and case but still no luck and defraged it. It so hard to even log onto the internet as it runs so slow when logs on and crashes by the time I've got to the Internet. I managed to run a driver check tool on drivershq.com and it says the drivers for it are bad but I can't find any updated drivers for it for free and even the tool supplied with can't find any updated drivers. I don't know if it is the drivers are causing the problem but I running out of ideas. It used to run fine before considering it was Win XP Pro on Pentium 3 and this is really beginning to annoy me as this has been going on for a month. Does anybody know a solution?

Thank You For Your Help.

You need to check that the card does not have a minimum spec to run, and if it does that your PC meets that spec.
Also more likley is that it is a BIOS issue on the motherboard.
Get the latest BIOS and update the PC.
You can also try taking out any other PCI cards that are fitted (if any at all) this will ensure you're not getting any conflicts.
One other point - I wouldn't have bought a Belkin card at all.
If you intend to buy any new parts, make sure that drivers and support are available, as it looks as though they are discontinued for the card you have just bought.
