802.11A (5Ghz)
802.11B (2.4Ghz)
802.11G (2.4Ghz)
802.11N (2.4Ghz)

802.11 is the Wifi frequency adapted with the first wifi which was called the 802.11Legacy.

To be honest just remember this
802.11A is getting old and interferes with most cordless phones etc.
802.11B is after A and is also getting old but still being used.
802.11G is mostly seen nowadays and it runs good at 54Mbit/s
802.11N is taking over G but the price is still high.

thats all you need to know G and N are still good and if you find it at a store then get it

Hope this helps

Finally im out.
if its free then take it and try it out, just remember that if its wireless is on, try to put a wireless encryption its usefull when your in busy areas and someone might try to steal your internet which will probably slow down your bandwith.
But yeah take it if he's offering it to you, then try it out.

I love D-Link routers. I run a server off a D-link router and inside the network, I use another D-link wireless router. In my opinion get the free one. Get back on here if you need help password protecting your wireless signal.

yes you can disable the broadcast (wireless) and just use it as a 4 port switch.
