Can someone explain a dvd player that has the feature "up-converting"? Is it a feature I should have when buying my next player?

Thanks

It means that if the dvd (or whatever), is hooked up to the High Def tv or receiver, by an s-video cable, or rca (yellow) composite cable (not capable of transmitting High Def signals), it will take 480 or 520 lines of resolution (whichever it is), and upconvert them to 720 or 1080i or 1080p lines of resolution, for display on a High Def tv, to give appearance of a High Def picture, when it originally wasn't.

If you don't have a High Def tv, there's no need to worry about it, unless you plan on upgrading to a High Def tv, in the near future.
