I had a worm and a few trojan horses. Computer is now clean but dvd r drive is no longer recognized. It has power, the light comes on. I have tried the add hardware, opened the cpu and disconnected and reconnected. Still nothing. Any suggestions??????

If you have XP:Go into device manager under cd-rom-dvd drives-open up the tree. Locate your DVD-RW drive in that tree. Double click on that drive/click driver tab/uninstall drivers/ok/ and reboot.Then see what happens.

XP should hook them back up after rebooting.

Sometimes a drive can get lost. Happened to me a couple times. It turned my drive into a cd-rw drive only.Uninstalling and rebooting fixed it both times.
