Hey gang, this has been driving me up the wall. I have not been able to burn this image file for the life of me. I have made about a dozen coasters by now and even tried different brand media but I still can't get it to burn. I even tried changing the firmware of my burner (both up and down) and I still get the same error message. I was this close to replacing my drive thinking it was busted, but as a last resort, I threw together a quick data CD and that burned fine. So I'm guessing it's not the burner. Is it possible the image file is no good? Here's the last log of trying to burn the image:

By the way, I even tried uninstalling all of the NForce IDE drivers and using the good ol' reliable MS ones (that's why DMA is correctly reporting it's on), but that didn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas would be appreciated. If the image is no good, it's not the worst thing in the world, but I'd like to know if that's definitely it so I can rest easy. Thanks!

Try converting the image to ISO with MagicISO's Any format to ISO option and then extract the image with WinRAR to a temporary directory. That'll let you check the data and if it's okay you can burn it directly without having to futz around with image files.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Hey thanks, Dunker. I never even thought of that. I knew WinRAR could open ISO's but I never thought of converting it to one. Now once I convert it with MagicISO and open it up in WinRAR, will WinRAR be able to tell me right away if the ISO is damaged or will I have to go through every file and folder?

Well, if the ISO is damaged you'll probably get lots of gibberish filenames or an error during opening, but you'll want to at least sample the contents e.g. play some video files, look at some JPEGs, whatever. Even in a worst-case scenario, if some of the data is corrupt you might still be able to get something useful out of it.
