Is there any way to play SNES on v 2.6 without downgrading? I don't want any risk of bricking my PSP so i've decided not to go upgrade to 2.71 then downgrade... is there any way to play SNES (i.e tales of phantasia, chrono trigger, lufia 2, etc.) on 2.6 without downgrading and also without using GTA

hey i had a 2.6 and honestly as long as you follow a good tutorial i used http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about17935.html
got the 2.71 upgrade file from the download section of the site. I have a uk psp and i used the jap update and all was well very easy to do make a folder in game and call is UPDATE and just copy the 2.71 update file in
then use the 2.71 easy downgrader and follow the tutorial dont panic if it dont work first time ive done loads of downgrades and it is random sometimes 5 upto 15 ish.
Honestly very easy and safe as long as you follow tut and when it just work i.e turn red screen LEAVE IT ALONE.
good luck 1.5 with 2gb or if your rich 4gb card is def the way forward!!!

Steven, when I researched through all this crap, I only found the message to be that you need GTA... I asked if there was a way to not have GTA, since I didn't want to downgrade, but rather just play off of 2.6... please, give me specific steps as to what to do... download links, etc. I will really appreciate it

well id downgrade to 1.5 there is so much more available and i have snes with good ole mario karts, mario, super tennis working a treat. and thats just tje start of quality hombrew on my psp.
like I said i have offered the help that you asked for, you have not contacted me since, its up to you I can guide you full the process the only thing you need to check is the motherboard to check you dont have the Ta-082 obviously i cant check that for you but i can tell you exactly where to look or read one of the many guides available on here and other sites that walk you through the process.

guys, my psp simply has that damn serial number on its motherboard.. is it still possible for me to do a downgrade? if so, what are my alternatives?

Correct me if im wrong but im sure you can use the GTA method for 1.6 firmware if you have the serial on the motherboard I thinks its just the 1.71 downgrade that wont work with that motherboard.
Get an unpatched version of gta if you dont have one off ebay, use it and sell it on.

Guys, I see now what you have to do, but I'm a little hesitant and I don't get it. With e loader, I plug in my PSP to the USB right? Then what do you do from there?

Mate why dont you use msn add me and ill talk you through it all this would be the best way and it will take like 10 mins in total and you will have a 1.5
