So if I have the ta-82 motherboard or whatever and I try to emulate or whatever it will brick my psp? Whatever brick means.

if you have the ta-82 board it means there isn't a way for you to downgrade it yet and if you do you will "brick" it which means you'll have a nice new psp as a paper weight as is will mess the flash up so it wont start up

so you can play games or listen to music all you see ur psp start up and the screen remains black,you can revive it by using a modchip but i dont think they made one for that mobo type
