HI,

i just got a Pioneer 111D, i heard these drives automatically bitset, but when i burn a DVD+R and check the media in DVDinfo Pro it says it's "book type" DVD+R! Did ut book type, or does 'book type in dvd info refering to the acutal kind of disc? if so, what program can i use to check book type?

thanks

here is a screen, this was burnt with 111D which should auto bitset...

Hello.

Media type is DVD +R for example.
Booktype could be either DVD +R (not booktyped) or DVD-ROM (if booktyped).

There is no software for enabling as it auto bitsets with the correct firmware I believe.

I believe out of the box the 111D only auto-booktypes +R DL to DVD-ROM which is what the majority of the manufacturers do. I think you have to flash a hacked firmware to get +R single layer media autotyped to DVD-ROM. I do not think it will booktype +RW media as DVD-ROM under any circumstances.

I think you want the 8.xx version firmware here for +R booktyping.

I believe it also enables DVD RAM reading. If you crossflash with the 111 (without the D) or the 111L firmware (labelflash), it reads and writes DVD RAM. I don't have the drive so I've never tried. Also remember flashing a burner voids the warranty for most manufacturers.

To remove the riplock on ripping speed, I think you can use MCSE.

Don't know if you can use CD/DVD Speed with a Pioneer to bitset, but I can use it with my drives.

Pioneer's and Nec's not bitset ready for DVD5 media. Must be flashed with hacked f/w. Early pioneers are not capable period. First model pioneer capable (and only with hacked f/w) was the 109. Reason I am not a fanboy of either.
