I have solved the problem and would everyone to know the solution.

I was having two problems with Nero 7 Ultra. The first one was the inability to copy DVD's. The second was not being able to upgrade to 7.5.2.2. One solution solved both problems.

The problem installing 7.5.2.2 was linked to Direct X 9.0c. I seemly could not get it to install, therefore Nero would not install. I could not get past the point where the installation told me I needed Direct X 9.0c. After using Nero's General Clean Tool to do a clean install I still had the same problem. No matter what I did DXDIAG still showed Direct X 9.0b still installed. I decided that Direct X needed to be unstalled also. Not finding an easy way to do this I started looking on the Internet for an answer when I stumbled on a forum where the answer lay. One posting alluded to a new version on Windows XP SP2. The author said that even if SP2 was installed to download the latest version and install it. He said that this would solve the report from DXDIAG saying the 9.0b was installed. So, I downloaded and installed the new SP2. (This is listed by Microsoft as WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU for English.) After installation and reboot DXDIAG reported that Direct X 9.0c was installed. I then was able to install Nero 7.5.2.2. With this version I am able to copy DVD's.

I hope this can help others to solve problems with Nero.

That is very interesting and I'm glad you found a way that worked for you...

This is what worked for me when installing Nero 7.5.2.2.

I too was challenged by Nero that I needed to update to DirectX 9.0C.
I found the latest version of DirectX in my "Windows Update" "Software" section (where I seldom look) and downloaded it there. Then I proceeded to reinstall Nero 7.5.2.2 and it installed flawlessly. This worked on both my laptop and my desktop. By the way, I have Windows XP Home with SP1. (Don't know if that makes a difference).

I am not sure why Nero needs the latest version of DirectX, but it appears to be causing users many problems when trying to install it.

The newest version I see on the Nero site is 7.5.1.1. Where did you get 7.5.2.2?
