I Have a HP a220n. Over the past 2 years I upgraded the HD to a 200GB, videocard to an ATI All-in-Wonder, cd-rw drive to a DVD-RW drive, and a few other minor upgrades. Now I'm looking into buying a new computer, but it seems everyhing I want is 1200 or more. Would it be worth it to buy a new case, new mobo, and new processor? I figure I can get away with spending a few hundred that way. Would all the components from the a220n work if i were to do this? I realize i still will need to upgrade other components later, but it seems like this would be functional until i could upgrade the video card and such again. Thanks for any help in advance!

well, what processor do you have,

the video card should be fine, unless you plan to play something like Elder scrols oblivion. other than that, you should be fine.

P>S. It is never bad to have to much memory, or a better mobo.

say something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813135022 as a mobo, and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819116238 as a processor... I just realized I'd have to go for a new video card as the ATI i have now is AGP... but that mobo, processor, a video card, and 1gb of ram would run just over 400...

I'm not a great lover of Aspire PSUs, nor any cheap PSUs for that matter. Cheap power units have a nasty habit of becoming very expensive.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115005 $180
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128017 $123
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227058 $102
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817128003 $111
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102022 $200
To run a Core 2 Duo and make good use of it you'd be lookng at something like that lot, total cost $716. A PCI express video card and DDR2 RAM are compulsary for a Core 2 Duo. That mobo is about the best around, as is the power supply, and I personally wouldn't skimp on either of these components. 1GB of RAM is adequate. Video card is largely up to you, but it makes sense to upgrade that while you're at buying a new one, and those X1900GTs are very good value for the performance.
