For our church I use a desktop and have a projector as the 2nd monitor with desktop extended using an ATI 9800 vid card. Problem I am having is trying to play full screen on the projector, I have not been able to find software that will maximize the extended desktop (projector). I have been using Nero ShowTime and expanding the window to best fit the extended desktop; however, it's annoying to do that every time I display a movie clip on the extended desktop.

Ideally, I would like a player that has the option to use the 2nd monitor for playback or at least allow me to go full screen without messing up the first desktop. Any ideas out there? And, does anyone have a dual monitor setup and tried this?

I see PowerDVD has the option now it's just getting the right settings and drivers to enable it. It's greyed out. I'm using OmegaDrivers for my ATI 9800 (Non-pro). I may try the latest catalyst WHQL drivers and avoid omega to see if that enables the option.

Dont know if you've sorted this yet, but have you ever tried Resolume?
Its actually VJ software, it allows you to play banks of video clips, mix them and send out to a projector full screen (using the projector as your 'second screen'). Theres a demo of it on www.resolume.com.
Hope this helps

I got it to work. I found a copy of WinDVD that was packaged with my DVD writer and I noticed similar settings as with PowerDVD, but you know it wasn't the video player that worked for me because the options never came available (stayed greyed). It was all in the ATI drivers themselves and how the monitors behave when there is a video stream present. It's in the Overlay settings. So now I have WinDVD play normally in a window in the primary desktop and the catalyst drivers overlay it (automatically) to fullscreen on the secondary monitor (projector). It's a lil quirky at times where the overlay doesn't go entirely fullscreen, so I stop it and start it or minimize it and restore it, or some times exit and restart WinDVD and the drivers will go fullscreen. (It's wierd, but I'm sure it's a driver bug with Catalyst). I have an nVidia card I could try, but it doesn't happen often enough to really warrant swapping cards. Sometime I'll take a gander at Resolume. I'm always interested in different discovering new gems out there.
