DVD-RW Drive won't read/burn media

I was burning a data disc when suddenly there was an error during the burn. Afterward I couldn't burn my backup using dvd decryptor. Even worse I couldn't even read any media using the drive including cd and dvd data/audio disc. The disc drive still shows up in my computer and it still eject when i want to. But it just won't read and burn anything. I have try uninstalling the drive then restarting to get the drive reinstall. Then I gone BIO but the drive name is in there. The device manager said this device is working properly.

HP DVD Writer 640b DVD/CD ROM drives
I suspect it is broken and I may order a new drive. But before that
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM GOING CRAZY.

Ok what model is your drive you could just need a firmware upgrade...

after endless hours of analysing I conclude the reason why my drive still shows up in my computer is because the laser is broken. Therefore I will get a new drive.

So where can I get the cheapest drive that can read and write fast.
any thing will be greatly appreciated

They are good site for stuff like that. Look at brands such as LG,LiteOn or NEC.

I have decided to get a
Benq 1650v
because I heard that it is one of the best burner and it is quite cheap compare to Benq 1655.
I order mine for about 30 dollar at

SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK OUT THE SITE AND SEE IF I AM GETTING THE REAL BENQ 1650 AND NOT SOME OTHER DRIVE THAT HAS SIMILAR NAMES.
