Oh, so it's both AM2 and 939??? Confused. If you're getting RAM for a 3700+ you'll still want DDR 400 as DDR2 won't work with it.

That's an AM2 mobo. Unless that CPU is also AM2, i think you'll find it won't fit/work/whatever.

By the looks of it you've ordered a socket AM2 motherboard with a socket 939 processor. Under no circumstances that I'm aware of are they compatible. If you've already bought the items you will need to return one.
If you return the CPU to get an AM2 chip, you will need DDR2 RAM. If you return the motherboard to get a 939 board, you will need DDR1 RAM.
If you haven't ordered yet, think yourself lucky and change one of the items.

No... CPU Socket types aren't interchangable, it's only compatible with a socket AM2 processor, Socket 939 proc wouldn't even go in.

I think.

if you get an am2 board you will be able to fit amds next processor, am3, into it. so they are saying at the moment but this could change before they are released next year. who knows? only time will tell on that.
id go am2 if i was you as 939 has been discontinued.

Supported CPU
CPU Socket Type Socket AM2
CPU Type Athlon 64 X2/Athlon 64 FX/Athlon 64
If you look under specifications that is what is says!
So the Amd 64 will fit.

NO!
There are two types of Athlon 64s
Socket 939 Which you have
And Socket AM2
Socket 939 WILL NOT EVEN FIT IN THAT MOTHERBOARD!
Trust us. We work with this kind of stuff a lot :P

No it won't, cause you said that chip of yours is a different socket.
I built a computer with that same mobo for a customer last week, it can only handle AM2 CPU's.
[edit] looks like Estuansis beat me to the answer... i'll leave mine up as confirmation then[/edit]

It's a little confusing, but it's basically like buying the same thing but in a different shape so it won't fit into the same box. The Athlon64 is a similar (but not identical) version inside, but the "shape" is different...
