Hello,

I have recently managed to burn TDK DVD+R DL using imgburn and it works on many of the DVD Players at home Except for one.

The DVD Player tries to read the disc but then stops reading and I receive a "Read Error" message and it ejects the DVD.

I'm not sure what this means... The DVD Player cannot read DL DVDs ???
Or the DVD Player cannot read +R format?

I've read that Verbatim Discs are good with DL, so I bought a Verbatim DVD+R DL But same thing. It works on all DVD Players at home except for 1.

What could be the problem?
And what could be a possible solution?

Thanking in Advance,

Hi

If you booktype your DVD+R DL's into DVD-Rom's that should solve your problem. The only problem is does your DVD-Writer support booktyping?

What is the make and model of your DVD-Writer?

Hello Pazzini,

What does booktype mean? I'm a bit unfamiliar with this term.

I'm trying to burn DVD-Video files (VOB,ifo,bup,etc..) on a DL DVD.

My DVD Writer is an LG GSA-4163B.

Hi :)

This should explain what booktyping is.

Quote:
When the booktype field (bitsetting) is changed to DVD-ROM then DVD players are fooled and will think the user has put in a DVD-ROM disc instead of a DVD+R disc and will read it accordingly. This results in an increased chance that the player is able to read the disc and that?s why the ability to change the booktype field (bitsetting) is essential to a lot of users. Certainly owners of a DVD player that requires this field to be set to DVD-ROM, in order to work properly, will prefer a DVD recorder that supports setting the booktype field.
The quote used came from this site http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php

To booktype your discs with your burner you can use IMGburn, you can get it here. http://www.imgburn.com/

When set up goto tools, drive, change booktype and select LG.

Any problems we are only to happy to help.

Sorry to rush off but I have to pop out for a while. :)

Thank You Pazzini,

Thank You very much; Just 1 quick question:

When I click on tools > Drive > Change Booktype. I select "LG" and then do I choose "Change for:" Drive (For DVD+R DL Media) ?

And then it says: Current Setting "Normal". Do I have to change it to "DVD-Rom" ?

Hi, yes to both questions. You will have to convert your VOB files to an ISO image first, here is a great guide by arniebear on how to do this. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/383878
