I recently did a clean reinstall of my operating system to clear some of the junk collected over the last 2 years. Can someone suggest the best version of Nero to reinstall? I have looked for alternatives and found things like Prassi Ones and Nero 7 Lite but am not yet sold on them. I have purchased both Nero 6 & 7 and have keys for both. All I really need is the CD/DVD burning program. I burn audio CDs from mp3 files and DVD slideshows created on another program. Can I avoid downloading things like the cover designer, wave editor, showtime, Incd, and especially Scout?

Nero 7.0.2.8 has worked for me. While I haven't reauthored many DVDs in Nero Vision (I have better tools and only use it when I'm real lazy) it seems to work a bit better in Nero 7 than Nero 6. Nero 7 may have better DVD-R DL handling as well. I haven not burned -R DLs so I don't know. I have successfully burned a number of DVD+R DLs with none of the problems that people here seem to complain about with Nero, and most of the people doing the complaining seem to be aficionados of Nero 6. With that said, 7.0.8.2 is regarded as the only stable version of Nero 7, while 6.6.0.18 is considered the best Nero 6, and if you can't get Nero 7.0.8.2 to work right for you, you can always count on good ol' 6.6.0.18.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

If you read through the forum, you will see that stable versions in Nero 7 seem to be 7.0.8.2.
Also many as well as myself are finding no problems with the latest 7.5.1.1 it also seems stable.
You can do a "Custom" install and choose only what you wish to.
In ver 7.5.1.1 there is a switch in the taskbar icon were you can turn off / disable Nero Scout. ( if my memory serves me right ! )

Again, I concur, version 7.5.1.1 has proven to be stable and I have not yet found any bugs or problems with this issue. Maybe Nero has gotten their act together this time.

Could you do me a favour? Load Nero Wave Editor with a tune and try the Equalizer under the tools menu and let me know how you make out. It's the "only" problem I find in my 7.5.1.1. as yet. Nero can't reproduce it "over there" so I guess it isn't a problem. Wish these knobs would read some of these forums! Thanks

No problem, loaded up okay, played 3 different MP3 files okay, played them, I didn't experiment with any of the features in the program because I don't know what to do with this tool. Looks kinda fun to play with. What problems are you experiencing, and do you have the latest driver's loaded for your audio card and/or sound system?

When I load a tune and and go up under the tools drop-down menu and select the equalizer tool it pops up to fill the entire workspace almost.
I cannot access any of the bottom area of the app. I have no "X" like in any of the other apps in this menu. I have to hit the escape button on my keyboard to close the app. I can load and play tunes.....no problems. It's just the equalizer is oversized and I can't use the functions. Try a couple of the other apps under the menu and see the difference. Thanks for the assistance.

What setting is your screen resolution set to? I have mine set to 1152 x 864 and the equalizer extends from top to bottom, but I can still see the entire board, but if I decreased the size to 800 x 600 I am only able to see the top 2/3rds, which sounds like the problem you are experiencing, I hope that this helps.

Thanks for checking. Mine is set to 1024 X 768 and I've NEVER had problems with it with any other app I run. Don't understand why all other apps under the menu work except the equalizer. Nero replied yesterday and asked what I had it set at and they replied they couldn't reproduce it on their system so I figure they tested it under that setting. I'll try a different setting just for the heck of it, but begrudge changing for one small app in Nero. I'm too crotchety I guess!
UPDATE.....tried your settings and others but still not good. Using your settings I have to hide the taskbar to see the OK and Cancel buttons.
