When I try connecting my PSP (or DS) to the wireless internet connection, it doesn't work and comes up with the error:

"A connection error has occured.
A connection to the access point could not be established.
Check the security settings for the network and try again."

My network doesn't have a WEP password, so it wasn't that blocking it.

There are a few neighbouring networks near where I live, and they all say the same thing when I try to connect to theirs aswell.

Until recently, my next door neighbours connection worked for me, but now they set up an "access list", or something, which prevents me from connecting.

Would my network have an access list that's blocking me? And if yes how can I find it and add my PSP/DS onto it.

Thanks for any help.

bout the only thing that it could be that i can think of is someone has a mac address list which only allows certain mac addresses to connect to the network. is the router in your room or another, if someone else hooked it up ask if they created a list like the one aforemetioned.

My dad set up the network, and I have asked him yet he doesn't know a lot about it.

The router is in another room.

see if your dad will let u access it and make sure he didnt place a WEP code on the router. If its a newer linksys most of em will create a WEP network access code by default.

I don't think the network has a WEP, as wouldn't the PSP scan tell me?

But I'll see if he'll let me on his comp to mess about, thanks.

I had kinda the same trouble.

I'm going through a "2wire Router" and had wep, but when I entered the code, I got the same error msg as you.

I also allowed all traffic through my router and still this crap "a connection error has occured".

I'm not very well up on router config but I rang sony and they said, make sure your router is configured as "B" in the settings rather than "G".

So I went to the router settings and set it to "B", but still no luck and I was pissed to say the least.

There was 3 types of "G","B" settings on my router and they were "G", "B" AND "G/B".

I, by chance just tried the "G/B" settings and I got connected and trust me, I was like you at first. I wanted to throw the Fu*kin psp out the window lol.

I'm not that well up on routers so maybe some of the other lads on here could explain the "G/B" router settings a bit more.

as far as I know, it's something to do with the speed of data transfer but I could be wrong.

Hope this helps.
