I have been looking all over for answers but was unable to find anything.

I have DSL...With the DSL i got a Modem from them (A SpeedStream5100 or something like that) Now i am getting a laptop for a home business i am starting up. I called my provider and they will send me a new modem with wireless capabilities and get me a faster setup for no cost.. Well what is the difference between the ATT Modem they are going to send me and say Linksys. I see Linksys in alot of discussions. Can someone please clarify and what will work best for me. I will be doing work on the laptop in a home office and the main computer will be in the family room. Thanks for any help..

Wireless is wireless no matter what make of unit you use.
If someone is giving you a free one then take it.
You can however use any make of wireless router on your network, and either have one with a built in modem or use the one you already have, as long as it connects to your router okay.
Make sure that the unit you buy has the correct support for you line type, you should be able to see what the spec is from a quick google search on your ISP.
Chances are that if you use the one they send you, they will also send you a setup disk, and with that comes the crap they want to load on your system.
Its very easy to find out what username password your ISP has given you, and then to note all the line settings, then just program these in your router and do away with the ISP setup disk completely.
This then gives you a far cleaner PC.
Depending on what ISP you have, will depend how good they are at providing information to you, but they will have to if you insist.
