I have a DLink DSL-502T ADSL Router. I've updated the firmware to the latest version (v2.xxxxxx). For port forwarding, the configuration asks you the following things:
Name:
Type : [TCP/UDP/TCP&UDP]
Port Start:
Port End:
Port Map:
Everythong else is okay, but what exactly is the last one for? For a single port, I just enter the same value in the last 3 boxes. But because of that option, I don't know how to open a range of ports (eg. 6800~6899).

Name: Whatever you want "torrent" is good.
Type: TCP and UDP
Port start: the first port in the series you want to forward. (btw, pick a new port..I like 16881)
port end: the last port. (btw, you only need 1 port, enter the same number in both boxes)
Port Map: the last 1-3 digits of the IP of the computer you want to forward to. For example, if your local IP is 192.168.1.1, the number you would enter here is 1.

:)

By 'Local IP', do you mean the IP entered in the 'IP Address' field, or the 'Default Gateway' field?
Always get confused between the two...

The gateway is the router.

A local IP is the IP of the computer you are physically sitting at.
