I burn lots of DVDs with Nero but the burn times are driving me crazy.
Its taking 10 mins for an 8x burn, when it should be around 7 mins,
the counter has the right "time remaining" for a correct burn... it
will show about 7 mins, but when 7 mins is up it just keeps counting
(it will be around 70%).
I've got a brand new NEC 3550 and Im using TY fuji media, using Nero 7.5.1. DMA is enabled and its running in UDMA2 speed.
I had the same problem with my old AOpen DVD burner so I bought this
NEC to hopefully fix the problem, but no luck.
lets see the times are about right but there could be other issues: spyware, viruses and have you done a defrag lately, how many procvesses are you running when burning. Are you surfing the net.All these things add to the running capacity of your pc.If you dont look after your system then it wont run at optimum output.
Well, I'll basically second that, noting that a fragmented disk is the most likely culprit. You always want to run tools like Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Ewido and some anti-virus tool, but I prefer not to have my resident AV running while burning.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
