I've been finding a lot of online dealers selling tons of refurbed stuff. Everything from game consoles and DVD players to network gear. Where do they get all this stuff? One guy had hundreds of items from Netgear.

Are there wholesale auctions they go to or do they buy from the factories?

Any idea?

Thanx

Most refurbished products are items sent back to the manufacturer for either service problems or damage when received. The manufacturer will either refurb it there or may have another company refurb it for them. My last 2 Epson printers were refurbs direct from Epson. A good starting point for any refurb product is the manufacturer's site to see if they show a clearance or refurb center open to the public.

Overstock.com sells a lot of refurbs, especially A/V equipment.
Check them out here: http://www.overstock.com/
Some stuff is refurb, and some is new stuff, being discontinued.

Ok guys tell can ne one tell me is this legit or not or have u heard of this place. http://www.adsmk.com/
Theres a ton of sweet deals (Mac Book Pro $1100) and the guy says everythings directly from china factories. But you have to pay wetern union or bank transfer.

Hmm. Stolen, maybe? I don't know. Some of their products aren't a good deal either. I just checked out the price of a 30 Gb iPod (I'd never buy an iPod, but I was just curious) and it's only $10 less than Best Buy's price, new. They want $350 for an Athlon 64 3700+ CPU that retails new for less than $100. Also, a lot of their stuff seems out-of-date, but it's high-priced if it is.

-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Ya I noticed that to theres crap deals then sweet deals. Idk the guy who runs this emailed me when i sold an ibook on ebay. he wants me to do business with him and i could have stuff dropshipped to people. i want proof tho that if i send a western union payment to him im going to get a item in return.

If you have ever seen sweet deals on yahoo auctions and the sellers accounts are new and have no feedback. The item is pay with western union only. its a scam. PSP value pack w/8 games. $100.00 pff yea right it was scam. I just don't know if this site is.

Thanks for the info

But I guess what I'm really asking is if I wanted to be one of those guys that sells the refurb gear how do you go about setting that up?

The company I work for is authorized to sell gear from all kinds of vendors and typically you just contact them and set it up but I have no idea how you become a reseller for the refurb stuff. When I check wit the various sales reps they generally have no idea.

For example I just came a across a guy with an ebay store that sells hundreds of refurbed items from 2 or 3 vendors. Where does he get access to it to start with I wonder.

Thanks

I have no idea, but since nobody else said anything, let me take a logical guess and say: get to know or get a job with one of those resellers or refurb vendors. Maybe you'll get to know their sources. Otherwise, I'd just ask the manufacturers, and find someone. Then again, if you're selling on eBay, I'm not sure it makes a huge difference - a lot of the "refurb" vendors I see are as cheap as any used stuff.

Any outfit thats asks for that type of payment should be considered a risk. I am the head manager for a dealership that buys and refurbishes major appliances (washer, dryer, refrigerators,etc.). We have a direct contract with one of the biggest names in appliances out there. All their sales reps are aware of the large amounts of damaged product available. We can purchase any amount we want at any time. we usually buy truck loads on a weekly basis. Any company that has sales reps that say they have no idea of how to get into this is either lying or is not worth doing business with. We have an open account with terms that allows us to pay in 90 days. Contact the company direct if your sales reps can't help.

Did you report them to the Better Business Bureau or whatever the equivalent you have is? Try also Ripoffreport.com, and perhaps even try contacting the manufacturers and let them know.
