Hey,

After i scanned and deleted ads/spyaware and virus.
The next day.. i found out my printer(Compaq IJ600), ASUS DRW-160P CD/DVD disc drive and my microphone(most important out of them all people i use vent/teamspeak frequently) all doesn't work.

I tried to update all of them but only the printer sucessfuly updated. The others say Unable to update driver etc etc.

can any 1 help me on this problem? i need my microphone to start working again real bad..(Btw my microphone isn't broken or anything..The mic is on and all)

Heres a little screeny of the Device Mananger.

I downloaded Everest and checked my Motherboard Chipset:
SiS 648FX, i went to their site to get the audio driver and when i tried to install it, it says
UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices: -536870397

Then a nother error after clicking Ok
SiS 7012 PCI Audio Driver Setup - InstallShield Wizzard:
Fail to install audio driver for windows XP.
Setup will exit.

I can't run the motherboard cd because my disc drive is stuffed -_-

When i had a similar problem with a dvd drive I right-clicked on it and selected uninstall. After rebooting the pc windows xp found it and re-installed it properly.

Looks like you are having trouble with one of your controlers has this ever happend before? how old is your computer?

What makes me think here is that one of your controllers has completely puffed out and only one the cd drives ide but your hardrive which is running presumambly on an ide cable is still runnign iam sayign this as one controler controls oyur ide and only one has failed but your hardrive might be sata.

what i will recommend os you rescan it with your av and with spyboot if it dpsent work reinstall or repair windows i really doubt this is a hardware related issue.

True, well you might have gotten your self in abit of trouble as you can not plug a usb drive in as your usb bus is currently dead by that device managers saying do the following after the scan/s

1> Plug a usb device see if it reads it
2> If you have acces to another ide cd drive plug it in and see if that comes with an error

Your title has given me an idea after looking at it for 15min LOL, anyway to the point do a restore to before the problem started and if it fixes it DO NOT DO the things after its fixed what you think might've caused it if this is not the right remedy then try to do the other thing in my last post but if this does not help it will tell that it might be your hardware but seriously i hope it works these things will take a while to fix unless you take it to a pro and pay 100 for an inspection, it will get frustrating as it will take a bit long over a forum but you will get a 80-95% correct answer from someone but for now do those 3 things

GOOD LUCK!!!

yes, i tried my PSP/Ipod/Memory Stick and it worked.
i can't do a restore to the point befor it started because its been like 3 months allready :S and my system restore only restores last month or so..

I don't really think its a hardware problem because nothing happened befor the problems.. i just scaned using Ad-Aware SE Personal and deleted the threat objects, then i slept for the night.
next morning i turn on the computer and everythign was all stuffed ( i can't remember wat was going on.. i can only remember no programs were running at the start up and when i tried to start a program up, it just doesn't respound)Ad-aware was the only working program.. i went in it and restored all the deleted threats and rebooted my computer.
My computer was still stuffed so i shut it down and rebooted into "Safe mode".
Then i system restored to 3 days befor the stuff happened.

Everything was fine until i discovered like 1 month later that my ventrilo wasn't working properly because of my microphone and i checked device manager and i see all these hardware problems.

Thats all i did

Very odd that it works as your controler is not being recongnized (usb controler)

Do you have acces to another ide cd-rom drive?
Is your hardrive cconneted through ide or s-ata cable?
Try get your motherboards whole chipset instilation utility and run it see if that fixes anything.
Download Firmware for your dvd drive which should reinstall it and might help.

http://support.asus.com/download/downloa...=P4S800-MX%20SE
There you will find all the drivers for your mainboard right...Download The Drivers For the following; IDE and AUDIO this should but im not sure 100% but its worth a try, fix your sound and CD-ROM drive problems. your usb is ok now? no yellow ?'s, i ahev also seen the reason your hardrive wporks is because its connected through a S-ATA connection not ide like your cd drive consider yourself lucky otherwise your computer wouldnt boot if your hdd was running through IDE

First it installs and goes to 100%

Then it goes "Begin to install/update AC 97 Drivers
after 0.1ms this happens

Every time i download a audio driver.. (For motherboards..)the setup has an error. besides the soundmax driver i downloaded.

But i had no sound and 2 mins later it sound found new hardware Soundmax Intergrated driver. It installed it properly and my sound worked. But the microphone still didn't work

So there still is a ? on the multimedia controler?
Right now im thinkning about the cd drive, when you put a disc in does it do anything and does your cd drive show up in my computer.
Open your computer disconnect the IDE out of the cd rom drive boot your computer once windows starts switch it off then plug the IDE back in and turn it on it sohuld detect the drive as it were just installed
