I have 2 Burners and ive burned maybe 400 dvd on each and maybe another 100 cds on them also. Ive always had tha usual bad burn every so often but lately they have been gettin worse and worse. Ive tried burning using "ConvertXtoDVD", "Nero 7.2.7.0", "CloneDVD2" and they either burn or dont burn at all. What happends is it will start to burn and gets about 1% done then sit and spit it out. It does manage to write enough on tha dvd to leave it dead. This will happen using all 3 programs and either one of my burners. So this leads me to believe its the media, which is Fuji, but I dont know weither to buy other media or buy a new burner??? Now I have a stack of usless dvds with nothing on them but that first little micro ring that the programs put there to start the burn.

If the Fuji disk are made in Japan they are not the problem, if they are made in any other country thats probably the problem.

Its easier to see if the media is the problem, the best media is any that are made in Japan, and Verbatims which are the only good ones made in Taiwan.

U could check to see if u need a firmware update

it will be hard to find any Made In Japan fujifilm blank DVDs , i don't think there around anymore. the Sony MIJ will code out a Taiyo Yuden also if you can find them so you best option buying in a B&M store is to get Verbatim or you can buy Taiyo Yuden online at suoermediastore.com

if that does work and you updated the firmware you burners may be going south. what brand are they?

Hi there,

When you are having buning issues, errors, I always suggest doing tests at the lowest speed. (2x / 2.4x)

If it's all good, move on to 4x.

If you have a drive that can PiPo Scan, do quality checks as you go.

Then move on to 6x and/or 8x if it's the speed you usually like to burn at, and use Class 1 quality media.

My 2 cents...

The first burner I purchased is a Samsung TS-H552B and the second is a BTC IDE1800 that I grabbed out of another comp. I mainly use he Samsung but I have the problem with both burners...mainly the reason why I believe its the media. Unless its one of the p[rograms I have installed and is conflicting...Nero 7.2.7.0, The latest DVD Shrink, The latest ConvertXToDVD, DVD Decrypter, Clonedvd2 v.2.8.9.8, RipIt4Me v.1.4.15.0, an PowerDvd v.7.0.1724.0. I dont know if any of these conflict or would cause my prob...

none of thoses should conflit . i would download the Nero 7.0.8.2 verison though it seems the most stable.

a couple other things you might try make sure your drives/burners are in DMA mode and NOT ib PIO mode you can check that in device manager. also make sure your burning on a clean machine , doing a disc cleanup and defragging often.
