Nero Burn Fail: Illegal Disk (Maxell & Sony!!)

Using Staples DVD-RW with no problems. However, experienced ?Burn failure ? Illegal disc? using Sony DVD-R and Maxell DVD-RW.
1st: Gateway Support Chat said no firmware update available for my NEC ND-2510a drive (couldn't use NEC's update).
- Tech told me to update Nero & clean drive
2nd: Installed Nero_v6.6.1.4 (without General_CleanTool)
- RipIt4Me & DVD_Shrink went wonky!
- Checked you Nero Forum
Tried to fix per posting in the Nero Forum:
- Removed Nero v6.3.1.17 using General_CleanTool - then Shutdown
- Installed Nero-v6.6.0.18_no_yt ? Programs installed

o NeroVision Express SE
o Nero BackItUp
o Nero Cover Designer
o Nero ShowTime
o Nero MediaHome
o Nero PhotoSnap SE
o Nero PhotoSnap Viewer

- Tried Sony DVD-R again ? same result
- Ran Nero CD-DVD Speed to check Sony media ? only read the following before failing.

this version is still pretty buggy you may consider upgrading to version 7 or roll it back to my favorite of 6.6.0.18

that says you have 2 versions of Nero running.When you uninstalled Nero ver 6.3.1.4 did yoiu use the clean tools to get rid of the residue files or did you just install 6.6.0.18 over the top.This could be the conflict
