i have a wrt54g that i just recently set up... but thats not the problem. it works, i guess. the problem is that when i go to its ip to "easily configure" it, the site shows up with buttons, labels, tabs, links, and descriptions missing. all i can see is the background and the some fields with numbers(such as the ip) in them and some other blank ones(like a blank pull down list). well there are two buttons left. the ones at the bottom. one of wich lets me save my configuration(yeah so if i blindly do something i can save it! -like if i screw up!). so how do i remedy this? btw i'm runninga zone alarm's firewall which i know blocks some features on websites... so maybe that?

jgarces07:The shoulder buttons on my DS (not Lite) are not working. Any advice?
nintenut:This is going to sound a bit odd, but it works, put your lips around the trigger and blow really hard, it works.
bee_cup: My DS Lite L button don't work...
nintenut: Put your mouth on it and blow, gets the dust out, and sounds obscene!

i have version 5 of this router (apparently quite troublesome but not for me) and whilst i don't suffer from this or any other problems i have read about the tabs etc missing but am pretty sure version 5 suffers from this problem among others (version 5 is a dud by all accounts); i've read quite a few problems like this over at www.linksysinfo.org but their site's search function is playing silly beggars this evening.
What version router have you got, and also what firmware level are you at ?
Sorry it's so vague but all will become clear when i find the info :)

i have the latest firmware (i updated it out of the box) version: i don't know... the newest, or second newest, or third... the package has the following logos: verified with intel M centrino, one touch setup (yah rite), secure easy setup (same as b4), wifi certified b/g, symantec norton internet security, wireless G, and the linksys easy toolkit logo to the right- if that helps. also it supposedly has wpa2 (which is why im doing this). THANK YOU for commenting.

no problem. the version should be on a sticker on bottom of the router.
i don't know what was wrong with linksysinfo.org last night, highly frustrating. i'll try again shortly.
there's still something wrong with their search function (i'm a member there so may drop them a note). Anyways, used google and this time found one of the links i knew i'd seen before (that has a fix) - http://www.linksysinfo.org/portal/forums...hp/t-45131.html

make sure you have version 5; obviously the config pages for the router aren't working correctly but can you post the firmware revision, that should help verify what version router you have..
Also, here's a good page re the different versions of the wrt54g - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G

s/n begins with cdfd: i have a version 6!
any ways, in a desperate attempt, i restored my laptop pc to manufacturer specs (its new, so it was ok) and reinstalled it all over again with no security because of a hunch brought on by that forum posting u linked (thanks a lot! very helpful). the hunch worked; it seems that an unidentified program was blocking the buttons and such (90% sure it was Zone Alarm, 10% random programs i downloaded). i was like:"holy hell, finally!". i eagerly set up a new password and did all the security stuff like turning off ssid, using https://, etc. ...and now i have a new gripe: i go to turn on wpa2, *click* ...nothing. no configuration options like i've seen in the screenshots i looked at or anything. ok, how about wpa? *click* ...nope. wep? same as above. WTFH!? this seems to be a vicious circle...

hi, progress then, of sorts. Now i remember one of the reasons why i ditched the annoying ZoneAlarm a long time ago. The only one more annoying that i've seen since has been Norton Security or whatever it's called. Both my brother's PC and my dad's had been kept hostage by Norton for too long (intermittent problems and long drawn out lockouts) that i did a 'Braveheart' and kicked Norton to the kerb and brought calm in the form of Mcafee Visruscan which i've used without issue for some years.
Anyways, one of your problems could be turning off SSID broadcasts. I actually tried that once or twice and it's a pointless security fix as it can stop you yourself seeing the router. So i turn that annoying tickbox off right away. As to WPA2 i have had this problem also, 'til i realised i couldn't get connected as all my PCI wireless cards are only WPA (not WPA2) and my laptop is WPA also, so router was talking to itself on WPA2 as none of my kit talks WPA2 - try that. I think my setting is on WPA Personal or something (not at home at the moment to check).
re-reading your last reply, the WPA2 reply i've just made may be irrelevant at this point but keep it in mind just in case. Try turning off ZoneAlarm altogether until you get the router setup perfectly..
