i'll start from the begining of my dilema, i have a new computer, w/out a hdd so i re partitoned a 160g in my old computer for a 5g partition to whack XP onto, used partition magic. so everythings cool up until this point

now i try and load xp onto that 5g partition by booting from disk
i get up to the point where it says choose your partition and yeah, it tells me that theres only 1 partition and that it has stuff on it so i'll have to re-format before i can install xp.
so i just reset the computer thinking that it cant be right

now in my computer it says theres only 1 partition and it needs to be formatted ie. i cant veiw anything on the disk

any ideas? i really want my data back

oh and i have norton ghost if that helps and can probably get access to any other disk recovery utility if i need to

To add in the list of data recovery software here is one more.
Stellar Phoenix FAT & NTFS - data recovery software
Downlaod demo from here http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
Through demo version one can see the recovered data so its gives the option to test the software before getting the full version.

I suggest you use Partition Table Doctor to resolve your

problem. The software provides very useful functions:
Backup partition table, Restore partition table, Rebuild
partition table, undelete partition, Fix boot sector,
rebuild mbr,etc.

First thing I recommend you download the demo version of
Partition Table Doctor.( http://www.ptdd.com/download.htm )

Run the program and select "Rebuild Partition Table",
then choose "Interactive" mode. If you can find the partition
you need, that is Partition Table Doctor can help you. Otherwise,
Partition Table Doctor cannot help you.
