Hi, I'm pretty new at this, so please excuse any 'mistakes' I make throughout the post. This may require some knowledge of Sony's DVD Architect 3.0. (though considering mine is limited, not much of it).

Anyways, I've been trying to create a DVD using Sony DVD Architect 3.0. Creating the menu, preparing and getting it to a DVD is easy enough, and its worked so far. But the problem is getting the actual MOVIE onto the project. I just <Insert Media> and then select the appropriate film. Problem is, its around 700MB, and when I put it in the project, the total file size jumps to 7GB... (this despite the fact that the menu is only 98MB). Keep in mind this is uncompressed, as I didn't think I would have too *refer to note about being 'new at this* Which brings me to my first question:

1. If I went ahead and prepared the DVD, would it end up being 7GB and therefore too big for a single DVD? Or is there a way to get around it?

Well, I didn't know if this was possible, so instead, I started looking for compression options, and winded up using XviD. I wasn't sure whether it was the right choice, but I had heard good things, and was able to cut it down to half the size. Problem now is, DVD Architect won't allow it in the project as it is 'not of the required file type'. And so my next question:

2. Is there anything I have to do after converting the movie to XviD to get it into DVD Architect?

3. Should I have converted it to something else?

4. If I do have to convert it to something else, how can I keep the file size down?

I'm sure I had some more questions about this. I'll try and post them here when I get the chance, but until then, if someone can give me a hand, it'd be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance!

DVD Architect would be for DVD video, so MPEG-2. If you want to use XviD, then you have the wrong app or if you want DVD video, then you have the wrong forum.
