Hi all,

I recently encountered problems with burning. Am using Nero 6 and Samsung writemaster. The errors occur early on in the process and despite uninstalling and reinstalling while updating my hardware too, I still have problems, wasted more than 10 DVD-Rs already. Can anyone pls advise? Below is the log.

close more applications to free up more memory, you're in virtual memory territory which means your hard disc will be 'swapping', therefore interfering with the burn.
better still you need a little more 256Mb minimum

without more memmory it's going to take forever for you to write onto a DVD.... install more memmory!

Updating your firmware will do wonders because your drive is not recognizing your media! Using good media will stop many problems. Use Made in Japan stuff..... Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell...... Verbatim is the exception to the MIJ rule.... they are made in Taiwan/Singapore and are top notch media, too!

checking out the burner.....some owners don't like it too much..... and they said that it had trouble with the TYG02s..maybe it was a fake TY!

@gurnard...... sorry I didn't see the TYG02s there! but still good advice about media!

Oh one more question. Since I'm burning data from from com to dvd, is it necessary to have adequate hard disk space? Previously I did not have this problem but I was guessing one issue could be my drives now have less than 2 gigs of space so I'm wanted to clear stuff by backing up. Could this be a cause as well other than insufficient RAM/other background applications eating up virtual memory?

@ IHoe hi :)
yep! no question about useing good media. wasn't sure about the TY code. there seems to be a question mark over the Samsung drives, all though i thought it was more a problem burning D/L

@ trippyxxx hi :)
yes free HDD is a governing factor as follows

the disc you are copying to..........= 4.7Gb
disc you are copying...................= 4.2Gb
15% of total for pc to do it's thing = 1.3Gb
free space needed.....................= 10.2Gb (or there abouts)
if it's a D/L then the amount needed increases dramatically

very good advice Gwendolin.... and HI right back at ya!

if you are doing the update don't forget to:
1. save your serial #
2. use the cleaning tools when you uninstall:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
3. THEN install the updates mentioned above by Gwendolin. Nero 6.6.0.18 is the more stable and bug free version.... then install the package #2 Nero Digital.
