I've never done any of that, but I know whoever has done it probably edited the original rom/iso/whatever of the game they wanted to edit. If you were to edit a game, that one looks like Yoshi's Island (just so you know which game).

if you get the source of the game you can pretty much do anything you want to it..

beware that if you don't have ANY knowledge in programming, i HIGHLY doubt you'll be able to do it. Your best bet is to send the original programmer a few bucks and ask him to replace the images for you.

To program for the DS you will need DevKitPro, this website should provide all the information you need to program for the DS.

Good luck with this, everyone starts somewhere so keep at it. I've had similar aspirations but never actually did anything about it. Post results if you make something you want to share.

I cover my bases...
1)Xbox w/xecuter 2.6 solderless
2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD
4)GC w/qoob pro

I would be very interested in trying it out, but I also do not have any programming skills. I like to photoshop, so maybe I could help with a background for a 2D side scroller or something old school like that. Photoshop might not be the right program, but at least we can get some ideas rolling. Maybe a Contra/Metal Slug style game or a beat 'em up game like River City Ransom. I'm going to look over the devkitpro stuff but that will be when I find time. =/

I want to try making a pretty simple DS game sometime, the only thing I can program in is Java, HTML and a little C++. I might try it during summer.

X2 3800, A8n deluxe motherboard, 7800GT, Xion 2 case
2GB Patriot DDR 400, Audigy 2 ZS gamer, 400GB SATA RAID 0
games Im looking forward to: bioshock, SSBB, enemy territory quake wars, halo 3
currently playing: command and conquer 3, supreme commander, counter strike, shivering isles

I think all you need is C++ so you should be good to go, or at least have some kind of idea.

2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD
