Does anyone know were I can download this song?
I have Limewire, and I don't want to download BitTorrent or whatever..
I have a disk with like 20 different P2P installers on it, but I think a few are illegal..

So does anybody suggest a good P2P software that would have this song?

I'll jump in.

For the record, and before I start, I speak German pretty well, love Germany, and I love most of the German's I've met. They get a bad shake from most Americans. However...

Rammstein is NOT a cool band, let me explain. The "Du Hast" song/album was the first album of theirs that wasn't banned in Germany. They at least were, unfortunately, a hate band. They are named for the US Air Base at Rammstein where the most horrific airshow accident of all time happened, a jet crashed into a crowd. Anyway, most germans don't *Ever* use the word "nazi", so they don't call them "neo-nazis", but they are embarrassed of them.

Furthermore, Rammsteins success in America is, I believe a direct reflection of American's willingness to embrace foreign anything if some commercial genius gets them to believe it's cool (enter MTV), regardless of knowing what the implications of that support are. In this case it's not as horrible as, say, our flawed support of the Rwandan genocide (which we did because someone told us it was happening in reverse), it's pretty silly and is a self contained commentary on the overvalue of commercialism and "I want that" that exists in American culture.

Rant aside, I'll give you another tidbit. The song "Du Hast" has a built in dual entendre. Fiend will back me up on this:
"Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab' nicht gesagt" means, literally, "you asked me and I didn't say anything." However, "Du hasst mich (mir) gefragt und ich hab' nicht gesagt means, literally "You asked me if I hate and I have said nothing"--it's colloquial, not correct. Most americans will tell you the lyrics involve "You hate me". Even more interestingly, pop-up-video on VH1 displayed the lyrics as "Du hast mich", as do most lyrics sites, which means "you have me...[asked]"--but translated it as "you hate me."

So anyway, you hit a nerve there, almost as bad as asking me where you could download the songs of a certain popular country singer who sings raunchy songs, but was previously known for such songs as "send them n***ers back to Georgia" and various songs about lynching. (David Allen Coe.)

Good evening. :)

Ok, who exactly told you that?
Because to my best knowledge, Rammstein was founded by Richard Kruspe in '94, they released "Herzeleid" in the fall of '95.
They never made any albums prior to Herzeleid as far as i know.

Du hast mich, indeed COULD have a dual meaning, as the interpretation can be taken 2 ways, but wether it would mean their racists or facists, well... I don't know.

A counterpoint i'd like to offer up is that these guys where on tour with korn, orgy, and a whole bunch of rappers on the family values tour in the US.
Also, i've known the band since '95 *thanks to numerous german relatives and whatnot* and i NEVER heard anything about any banned albums.
I can't find anything about it on the net either, so i'd like to see some proof here.

Well, I hope I'm wrong. When I studied in Germany in the mid-to-late 90's, right when they were very first getting some notoriety in the US, someone asked the group of students I was with about their feelings. All of them, unanimously agreed that 1) they suck and 2) they're pulling wool over the eyes of unsuspecting americans and that 3) they had previous albums that were only released underground due to their controversial nature.

I don't have anything to back that up, however these were German students of the same age as their american counterparts with whom the music was getting so popular.

My opinion: There are so many good choices for good german metal/core, Rammstein's just like Korn or Staind or whatever other fake-core glam metal band to be churned out of the american pop-music scene, the song remains the same.

I spent a goodly bit of time in loud, metal type concerts in Germany at that time--they are right on par with the *real* metal/punk/core scene in the US--the real bands with real words and real songs are NOT what gets airtime, instead we get delightfully prepackaged goop that meets preset requirements for song duration, chord progression, and etc.

/rant off.

Anyway, like I said, I hope I'm wrong--but it doesn't change that their music still sucks. ;-)
