Im trying to downgrade my 2.01 ver to 1.5 on psp. I get all the way to choosing ver 1.0 in the eloader but when I select it,it gives me this message: attempting to gain flash access...
failed to assiagn flash2 device: 8001000d
press a key to exit. no changes were made.

What am I doing wrong? Help!

i would check the firmware version and see what it says. if it says its version 1.0 then u can run the 1.5 update and have a 1.5 psp. i know that the tiff exploit that this uses is very unstable so it might take quite a few tries for it to work properly.

youll want to use 2.71 as i think with 2.5/2.6 you still need gta to do it. download the 2.71 update found here - http://dl.qj.net/dl.php?fid=8046.
create a folder inside of GAME named UPDATE and stick the update in the update folder of course. you will then see it in the XMB and will be able to upgrade.

hexitnow,

so you suggest thatI keep trying to convert the firmware on the psp?
I'm afraid of bricking it. If you think I should keep trying to load it, I will.

well its really up to you. with the new generic downgrade and the one you're using they have about the same risk which is not very high. if i was in your situation i would keep trying the 2.01 method and if you conclude its not going to work then i would upgrade to 2.71 and proceed with the downgrade from that firmware.

How do upgrade the firmware? To 2.5 or 2.6? I have GTA-LCS and a downgrader that works for 2.6.

its not necessarily quicker or safer. in order to downgrade from 2.5/2.6 you have to have an unpatched version of GTA:LCS and those are hard to come by nowadays. i linked you to the 2.71 update above and here is two versions of a 2.71 downgrader

1st one requires nothing - http://www.hackmypsp.com/plugins/p13_dow...&p13_fileid=502 and it walks u thru the process on screen on ur pc

2nd one requires you to download the homebrew enabler for 2.71 http://dax.lan.st/updateflasher.rar

well it dosent take aslong to get started or for the downgrade to work i used the 2.60 d/gr for a while and not needing the eloader and a firmwre dump and all that i would say alot easer to use aswell and i found that the new one is bye far faster than any other one i have tryed but each to there own i guess.

I happen to have an unpatched version of GTA-LCS. Here is the irony of this whole thing, I converted my nephews psp from 2.6 to 1.5 with no problems, but cannot convert my own because it is 2.01. What a pain.

So if you can tell me how to update the firmware from 2.01 to 2.6, I should be all set.

Thanks again
