hey ppl just want to help some ppl that were in my shoes not a long time ago.i just went to the electronic store and bought myself a v14 pstwo.a slim ps2 can be modded in the following ways:modchip, flip top specific for the slimline, magic keys.these are okay but they all have flaws.modchips are known to wear out a laser, flip tops void warranties but that's okay, magic keys are not easy to install because for most ppl tool c ruins their ps2.so ppl if you want to spend a quarter for what you wanted to pay you can do the following method:tape and tissue mod.all you need is duct tape or electrical tape, tissue and a brain.as for swap magic boot, get that seperately without anything(you can try ebay, its inexpensive).for tape and tissue mod instructions go to http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm
this is just fo the people who are looking around wondering how they should mod their ps2.the installation is much simpler than any other mod too.it took me 10 minutes. =]
LOL
depends what modchip:Peveryone knows that(DMS4 is the best blah blah)
but the crap ones affect ps2's like my friend.his laser got fried twice using good media like verbatims.so it has to be the chip.
all depends on how/who fitted it i guess
there was a known problem with the older slim ps2's,where the laser would burn out without the laser fix,but that wasnt down to the laser being bad,it was down to a problem with the ps2 crashing which caused a voltage surge to the coil which fried the laser.
makes me laugh though, sony spend all this money, only to find a few bits of tape/tissue/SM allows us to boot back-ups.
you'd think they would have wised up by now,and had all games fitted with anti-mod protection like rugby league 2
funny thing is that almost all games work online so how come socom 2 and 3 dont because they have a special software that blocks bootlegs.why dont they do that for all games.its idiotic.
