I got the emulator from a few places but when I select the program it becomes a black screen with text saying something about reading the rom file (yes i had a rom in the correct folder)...then the screen goes blank then comes on and says "cannot play game or file (then a series of numbers)"-something like that. I dont think its the rom b/c i tried to run the program without a rom file and it said the exact samething!

Steps to make emulator work:

1. Make Sure your psp is at least version 2.0, if not, update it, but not over 2.71.

2.Make a folder under "PSP" called game if you do not have one already.

3.Be sure you have WinRAR. Get it from
http://www.win-rar.com/download.html

4. Download snes9x tyl version 4.2 from http://yoyofr92.free.fr/psp/snespsp.html (make sure you download the standard version)

4. Look at the files with with WinRAR.

5.RECAP- Just going over what we have so far. 2.0 - 2.71 psp. Game folder. Snes 9x tyl download (standard version) from link. Extract those files you downloaded with WinRAR.

6. If you did all that, you are 50% done. Not bad right? Keep following the steps.

7. Looking at the files of snes9x, you should see snes9x tyl-0.4.2 folder. Open that.

8. Open the 1.0 folder you see.

9.you should then see a folder called snes9xTYL.

10.Drag that to PSP/GAME/ save it there. Be sure you save it in GAME.(you should have ur psp plugged into a usb by now)

11. Thats it for the snes9x tyl part.

12. Now for actually playing it.

13. You need something called eboot 9.9. get it from here

http://dl.qj.net/eLoader-v0.99-%28M-rzen...10192/catid/114

14.Install that to your psp. Now your good to go.

15. And as for roms, get them from www.rom-world.com save them to anywhere in the psp folder.

16. Turn on your psp, go to photos, and just go to the picture of eboot. Just go to it it will load eboot.

17. Then select snes9x and play!

DO UPDATE! 1.50 is the future, you cant run any new umd games on it. You also dont have internet on a 1.5. It used to be great but now 2.71 with eloader 99 is the best option.

david, If you have 1.5, you can still use the Internet Browser and everything 2.7 has or any of the features of lower versions by simply emulating them through Devhook while on 1.5.

yes, true, but who wants to go through devhook and install the big confusing program. But yes, I agree 1.5 is the best firmware to have, you are correct there. But if this kid wants to update he can do what I told him.

P.S. on snes9x tyl, how can I speed up my roms. Some play but some are just very slow.

but what u said doesnt make sense. why uprgade and then install eloader to load the snes emulator when he can do it directly from the XMB in 1.5. sounds like you're the one giving out confusing directions. Besides the eloader is a pain. More so then devhook atleast. with devhook theres the ultimate installer that installs everything for you. all you have to do is select what iso u wann aplay.
