Apparently, it lets you use the X and Y buttons on GBA games for turbo, L/R mapping, . Divineo has it up for sale and I just noticed it in one of their e-mail advertisements.

http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/zz-nds-dsa
http://mash-mods.com/products/Nintendo%20DS/dschipadvanced

Quote:
- Internal modification control chip for Nintendo DS
- Comes prewired and ready to install
- Add two functions to the X and Y buttons when playing GameBoy Advance games
- 3 modes: Turbo button mode, L/R mode, and OFF
- Turbo mode: X and Y function as turbo buttons for A and B
- L/R mode: X and Y function as R and L for GBA games
- Toggle modes by pressing Select + L
LED indicator for chip functions
- Easy to install - 10 wires to solder
Chip comes with stick-on insulation tape
Detailed instructions and full diagram available
Might be useful to some I suppose. I could see the usefulness of mapping X/Y to L/R, but I can't really think of any games that turbo would be helpful in.

The installation doesn't look too horrible either.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of Mash Mods before and any other thoughts on this type of product.

Thanks goes out to theridges for the userbars :)

ive seen this product a while back. i dont think it will be useful at all. it only lets you use x/y for GBA. and you have to open the DS to use it.

I used to play GBA emulators using that kind of set-up with a gamepad since it was far more comfortable for me. Whenever I play trigger intensive games it hurts my hands after awhile, so I could probably get some use out of this.

However, I spend so much time playing DS games now that I wonder just how much I'd actually use it.

When i first saw it a few months ago I thought it could be of some use, but in reality what you have to do to obtain those few functions just dosn't seem worth it.

Saying that though there are those who may play alot more GBA on their DS's and will find this very useful.
