Right now I have 2 hard drives, one is running off a ATA ribbon and the other is a SATA. I just bought another SATA hard drive and am trying to install it. On my motherboard I have 3 more SATA inputs. For some reason only one of them works, the one that has my old drive already in it. What do i need to do so that i can have 2 SATA hard drives working? Do I need to enable something so my motherboard will read another SATA drive?

Ye and it should say:

Sata 1
Sata 2
Sata 3

And next to that should be whats connected! Although all bioses are different!
Also if they are truly broken then you can always buy a hub full of connectors for around £20!

Lol well you wont be able to mess anything up in there. As long as you dont change any settings without first consulting someone youl be fine! You can look at any part of your bios without damaging anything. FACT

aight well i looked at it. 4 spots, 1 says my 1 dvd/cd rom, 2nd is one hd, 3rd is my other hd and the 4th jus says not detected. I have the rom and 1 hd runnin on a ata ribbon and the the 2nd hd runnin on a SATA cord. And im guessin the Not Detected is where my 3rd HD runnin on the SATA cord should be. But its not and i cant change anything on the Not Detected part.

I saw your post on computerforum =]

Anyways, try it with another HDD and cable, and then we can isolate the problem to the MOBO or HDD. Usually some cables that are shipped are faulty.

If you try with another HDD and it still doesnt work, its a MOBO problem. If you think it has compatability problems, try updating the BIOS's driver.

Please reply with the necessary information and I will try and further assist you!
