i'll get right into it.
my psp is 2.71 firmware. my friend has found some stuff to dump on it and now im using dev hook or something to play iso games. now, my other friend has a whole pile of psp games on dvd she bought. but they arent iso files, they are just an ordinary bunch of folders and files. i unpacked an iso i do have and found that there are similar titled folder and files there. but i tried packing some of that to an iso it doesnt work.
does anyone know how or which files to pack into an iso for the game to work? and also is there anything that'll rip my own umd games to an iso on my mem stick that works on 2.71?
If your friends games are in file format, i.e. containing the 'x' folder, then the only way you can use them is if u emulate 1.5 from 2.71 and run the eboots from the xmb. You can re-pack them apparently, but everytime i've tried it hasn't worked. It's also a long and arguous process, so i wouldn't bother. If u need more explaining, just say so ;)
im sorry, but im not quite understanding wat the 'x' folder is. basically, ive seen identical folders and files tahts in a folder labeled 'PSP_GAME' but im missing a 'UMD_DATA.bin' file.
u mentioned emulating 1.5....u mean that firmware option when im in devhook can make the psp think its another firmware?? how awesome.
also, wat if a new firmware comes along?? will this all not work and i'll have to cross my finger and hope theres some other crack/hack for the new fw? cuz i still want to buy some of my games and it'll suck if i end up having to upgrade my fw to play them.
thats the problem with trying to compile ur own ISO's now from files. u have to find a compatible umd_data.bin file. back in the day it was pretty easy because they were universal for a while. are u sure u didnt extract the iso or she didnt extract the iso. when u do that thats what u get, "PSP_GAME and UMD_DATA.bin". WinRAR recognizes iso files and places the WinRAR icon over them so its feasible.
well, she bot those dvds containing psp games. and when extracted, thats all i see. nothing more. ive tried just using another umd_data.bin file that my one working iso has and it doesnt seem the work. lol. any thots?
the dvd contains shitloads of WinRAR files. when i go extracting them, i get like a PSP folder which has GAME inside then inside that or so is the PSP_GAME folder which i recognize from my iso's. but no umd_data.bin file anywhere. sorry for the confusion.
the WinRAR files are the iso files. thats why ur seeing PSP_GAME and UMD_DATA.bin. WinRAR recognizes them and places the icon over them. i changed the icon so its easier to distinguish them plus i made windows explorer state all known file extensions instead of hiding them so i can see the .iso on the end.
