hi,
i just bought a used psp running firmware 2.6 and really want to downgrade to 1.5
ive learned that you shouldnt downgrade if the number on the inside of the UMD drive is IC6003 right? but mine says IC6001.
also i cant be sure whether the psp was originally 2.6, or if the firmware has been upgraded... is there a way to tell?
thanks for any help

also... is there a way to downgrade 2.6 without having GTA liberty city? i guess i could get hold of it, but it would be much more convenient if it could be done without...

1.) Create a folder named UPDATE (use caps) inside of the game folder.
2.) Download this file - http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/525
3.) Stick the update eboot inside of the UPDATE folder.
4.) Run it from the XMB on the psp
5.) Once you're at 2.71 download this downgrader - http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/755
NOTE:
There is another downgrader which requires to download other files but this one includes all files and walks u thru it on screen on ur pc + it copies the files to ur psp for you. Dont be discouraged when it doesnt run the first or the tenth try. The dev's said the exploit is kinda unstable so it might take a few tries for it to execute properly.

another question.
the link you posted to the 2.71 upgrader says "This update is intended for US / North American PSPs."
i live in england and im pretty sure the psp was purchased in an english shop... does that matter? is there a UK psp??
sorry for all the questions..

honestly the region of the updates don't make a difference, but if you google PSP 2.71 Firmware Update, Europe or something similar you should be able to find one for your side of the pond if your worried about it.
