Here's the deal guys:

I have a 6MB DSL line and I continue to get download speeds that are between 10 and 30 kB/s on Azureus - i've also tried using Bittorrent, bitcomet, bitlord, and ytorrent, i just like the set up of Azureus the best so i've stuck with it. On all of them, my uploads can reach 80 kB/s. If I limit the upload speeds, my download speed never varies. Actually if I drop it my upload to say 20 kB/s, my download rarely seems to surpass that.

I have followed every forum possible and their advice. I have all the ports forwarded (i've even changed them several times just incase they were getting blacklisted by my ISP), the firewall is not blocking anything (even had turned it off just to check and nothing changes), i've used the XP SP2 patch EvID4226 an increased the half-open ports to 100, and have changed all the different options according to every forum available within Azureus and nothing makes me download faster than 30kB/s even though the average swarm download speed is often double or triple of what I'm downloading.

On all the other blogs people have changed these things and all of a sudden download 400 kB/s to 1M/s and I still can't bust the 30 mark. If anyone has any other suggestions, ideas, comments, jokes, life stories to tell me that could help me out or atleast take my mind of it all, please do so. I'm desperate.

Thanks,
Jenny

You could try visiting my site in my profile--it's got a couple specific tutorials there that might give you what you need.

In truth, your download speed isn't governed by your upload, it's just good faith to upload as much as you can. Uploading to fast will *limit* your downloads, because the pipe can only handle so much traffic, and because every bit of downstream takes a little bit of upstream.

But check there, I've got a long "speed up your torrent" tutorial with just about every known fix--minus the lvllord patch, because I keep forgetting to add it.

Thanks for the reply. I put the upload speed to show that I can get crazy upload speeds, but never reach my full download speed that I get whenever I test the download speed (generally around 300 KB/s). I realize that by using all the upload speed my download speed would suffer, so I lowered it and as I did, I just always saw my download speed suffer as well instead of increasing. I read your entire tutorial- props by the way it was very nice and you did mention the Ivllord patch- but I have done everything mentioned.

I did notice that in Azureus it gives you a choice of three networks for each torrent to scan and connect to. I chose all three and it did speed up the connection, but it's still not downloading at full speed. Perhaps I'm just running some slow torrents- they are older ones.

Thanks for your help.
