Hey, I finally decided to register here and ask for help, hoping someone might know something about my situation.

The thing is that pretty much any DVD backups I burn are not working. Some work after pressing reset hundred of times but even that doesn't happen often. I only have the problem with DVD's, all the CD backups work just fine. All the original Playstation 2 and Playstation games work as well.

My PS2 is V4 and my modchip is Gameloader 2. I use Verbatim DVD-R for burning because I have heard they work really well.

I really have no clue what's the problem. Someone told me that my DVD writer could be the cause. I can't test it since none of my friends own a DVD writer. It might be the laser eye (which I doubt since my PS2 has worked really well all this time) or the modchip but I don't want to start spending a lot of money before I know the cause of the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

well, do any of your friends have a modded ps2 that you can try your burns on? If not then there really isn't much you can do to troubleshoot the problem without spend some cash (like say buying a different burner, trying it and taking it back)

My friend used to own a modchip but it was Gameloader 2 as well and his PS2 has been broken for a long time so I can't even test with his PS2.
