sup welcome to the world of PC building. depends what you are using this computer for and how upgradeable you want it to be. i ussually buy the newest and biggest out at the time i build. id say if those are your only choice PSU then go with a 400W but i like a 5 or 6 watt. and go with gigabyte motherboard

read the last 3 or 4 pages in the pc building thread and it will cover most of your questions. if you have any more thats the place to post.

good luck with it, self build is the only way to get the best rig for your money.

I'd say 450W at a minimum. Future compatibility is a bad way to choose motherboards. Find one that has good features and good reviews for the intended processor and use that.

The Gigabyte GA-8I945PL-G and the Intel Pentium D Dual-Core 805 or 820 look like a good, powerful, yet cheap-to-build system. Of course, if you want the newer Core Duo, expect to pay lots more.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I'd get it from mwave, but that's a good CPU. It's really been the sweet spot between power and price for a long time, along with the 820. The 805 would do well and if you are into overclocking I've heard of people cranking them up past 4 GHz...tho I suggest you be a lot more consevative if you OC...
