Ive looked in alot of threads over the last few days, and one question I still haven't found, and its my number one concern. Please dont link me somewhere else, If I missed it somewhere else, Im sorry, But please just answer me this quickie!

(Kinda A Two-Parter)
I really do want to Degrade from my 2.0 and play some ISOs, But: Once you Degrade is it easy to upgrade back to the older version, with no side effects? And, does doing all this hacking, downgrading whatnot leave trails that'll void my warranty?

Thanks!

So from what I read, when I downgrade I cant use the Internet on the PSP. But say in a month I decide to go back to the lastest version, ditch the Emus and all that jazz, and all will be fine as if I bought the PSP brand new?

Haha, sorry for the extra question.

1) You can downgrade as many times ad you want (as above)
2.0 downgrade is practically riskless these days.

2)DOWNGRADING WILL VOID YOUR WARRENTY! (In a way, If you downgrade successfully, no-one will ever know you downgraded. If you brick it [this is highly unlikely] your warrenty will not be honored [You will not be able to return or repair the bricked PSP Via Sony])

Ok, cool thanks guys for the answers!

Im not a complete idiot so when I do try Ill do each step as bets as I can... assuming I do everything by the books (your guides), chances of Bricking should be very low? Right?! :P

@jorahan
no u cant downgrade/upgrade as many times as u want. theres only so many times u can mess with the flash before it goes kaput.

@clunk
just use devhook and u can have ur 1.5 and emulate 2.71 and use the internet browser + play newer games.

So let me get this straight, Last time Ill be bothering, then Im gone! I swear. :)

Downgrade to a 1.5, then use Devhook to fool my PSP into thinking its any Version I tell it. Then Ill never have to do anything anymore. I have full use of everything.

Im assuming Devhook will have to be updated now and again however.

Yep thats it...

get it here http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/673

Once you emulate 2.71 you can run just as if it was a real 2.71, but also play homebrew and ISO's

it doesnt fool ur psp to make it think its a different version. that would insinuate using a version changer. devhook emulates newer firmwares and actually allows u to run newer firmwares on ur psp. allowing you to switch back and forth between 1.5 and 2.71.

Ahh I guess thats alot better then.

On a final check just now I found my PSP is 2.60, I assume theres no problem Downgrading that right? And I also read this about using Downgrader...

"" First of all if you have a PSP with the TA-082 motherboard DO NOT attempt to downgrade, there is a VERY strong chance you will BRICK your PSP ""

How would I go about checking if my Motherboard is a TA-082?

Wow, thanks for that... And also.. damn...

I guess I have a TA-082 ... on my Motherboard it reads IC1003... So, guess theres no point in downgrading anymore.

Bummer !!!

Though I believe you can take the upgarde to 2.71 option then run the HenC / devhook thing to run ISO's that way.

Its not something I have looked into myself as I don't need too, but there is a guide about it also. One of the resident big wigs will be able to help I'm sure :)

So this will not Brick my PSP because it doesnt write flash correct? And this is only for ISOs of other PSP games correct?

I think if you use the older version of devhook installer in the guide then you can't brick as it does not write to flash. Only the newer version of the installer does.

I'm sure there are people here willing to help you out that know more about it, but if you follow the guide then you shouldn't have a problem.
