I Just started using DVD Decrypter, RipIt4Me, DVD Shrink, and Folder2Iso to backup my dvds. So far I have only done 1 movie (Silent Hill) but when I was done backing it up I went to play it on my PS2 and it wouldnt play. I assumed I had simply failed again but tried it on my PC's DVD Drive and it worked just fine. I dont own a regular dvd player for my t.v. and have always just used my PS2. Has anyone out there had to get a new dvd player or had any other systems on which you could get your movies to play on one thing but not the other?

Also, if anyone uses a PS2 and has a different method of making backup without problems, please post here. Thanks

Media is usually the issue. See my sig on that. Regarding your other post, burn the ISO with DVD Decrypter and you're ok. Better yet, if you don't want to compress a DVD-9 movie, just rip it with DVDFab Decrypter (note that this is NOT the same program as the aforementioned DVD-Decrypter) burn with IMGBurn, also setting the layer break.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I'm going to try to use imgburn, I read one of their guides but it'll probablly take me a few tries to get it right (yay) As for what you said about burning the iso... The problem I was having was that I never read anywhere that I even needed to use an iso let alone how to make one.

Ok well so far I think I'm doing this right. Only have 2 issues now, first being that after I hit calculate I dont get the window to create layer break position, it doesnt pop up when I tell it to burn either. It might go hand in hand with the fact that I dont have any DL disks left so I'm gonna go to the store and pick some up (which sucks because I have 95 SL disks because everything I was burning before fit on them)However, in the guide I was reading you shouldnt have to have a disk in to get the layer break option to pop up.

Do you think that the reason the last two disks I burned wouldnt play was becasue they were compressed? I really don't want to have to use dual layer disks to burn.... especially if they don't end up playing on anyway. I know I wont use any of the 90+ disks I have left on anything else besides any older movies I might buy and it will take FOREVER to use them up that way.

If you use DVDFab Decrypter to rip your movies in "Movie Only" mode and remove all audio except AC3 5.1 and the subtitles you don't need DVD Shrink can be used to compress the movie to acceptable levels and they will fit easily onto a single SL disc. Sometimes DVD Shrink isn't even needed, you can go straight to Imgburn - build mode to burn from your VIDEO_TS folder. You might want to try using DVD+R discs booktyped to DVD-ROM for higher compatability with your PS2.

I'm starting to have the same problem but this movie is CLICK. It plays fine on my computer but when I stick it in my Xbox 360 it just keeps spinning and nothing plays.I know it's not the media because all I ever use is Taiyo Yuden.I burned it using Nero 7.5.1.1.

Na I always use -R media because they can store more data on them.

We are talking about 6 MB....

DVD-R/DVD-RW = 4 706 074 624 bytes ( 4488 MB )
DVD+R/DVD+RW = 4 700 372 992 bytes ( 4482 MB )

You might want to give the +R's a shot if your burner is capable of bitsetting/booktyping.

Rip movie only using DVDFab Decrypter, make sure firmware is up to date and use quality media...these are the suggestions, don't know why all of a sudden the movie wouldn't play after 'x' amount of successful backups. I did "click" the other night using DVDFab and it turned out beautifully.

Well I never made it to get the DL dvds. As a reply to above, I haven't just been making backups for x amount of years and it just stopped... I was using dvd xcopy before but DVD43 and AnyDVD stopped working like 3 days ago from I'm assuming which was newer CSS encryption. And as for media.. i've been using the same +R disks for months so thats not the issue. And I have yet to come across a file that I didnt have to compress less than 50% using shrink with any program that saves to HDD.

Everyone sure that there's not just a new little backround program like DVD43 or AnyDVD that I could use with Xcopy? I so wish there were because I was getting backups made in 25 minutes... its taking me about 2hrs now using decrypter and shrink.

Hey LOCOO I think the reason it doesn't work on my 360 is because Ripit4me sometimes does that on newer movies.Oh and before anyone bashes my last comment,I love Ripit4me and will always use it. I think it doesn't work well on my 360 because it might have been an older version of Ripit4me.I'll try again later.

Are you sure you're using AnyDVD 6.0.8.0, which is the latest version? If you bought it, I think you are entitled to free updates for life. It SHOULD be able to tackle anything - even the dreaded "Click" movie. If should work with most software, including Xcopy. At worst, you might have to do two steps and rip the original movie to disk and then let Xcopy or DVDShrink chew on it from there.

Use DVDFab Decypter's "Movie Only" mode only if you don't want extras. But if you are willing to spend the dough for a DL then you may as well keep everything. DVDFab is good too if you don't want to purchase AnyDVD, but like I said, if you already paid the money, you should just be able to download a more recent version and be good to go.

Edit: If you still have DVD43 installed, remove it! It does not play well with other software.

ya actually I used to use AnyDVD but when res. evil apoc. came out AnyDVD didnt work for it... so I scrapped that and went to DVD43 and it worked fine. I dont have AnyDVD anymore but I guess it would be worth a shot getting it again not having to buy DL dvd's and/or an actual dvd player.

Well I finally got my backup of CLICk to work on both my PS2 and 360. Here is what I did.

1st I had AnyDVD running in the background.
2nd I opened up the Movie using Recode.
3rd I didn't use compression with Recode and let Recode do it's thing.
4th I ran the encoded movie through VobBlanker to get rid of stuff I didn't want.Once that was done I used Shrink to make the file into an Iso.
5th I burned with Nero Burning Rom.

Perfect backup that will play on anything. This is just something I had to accomplish to help both me and anyone having problems playing this on their Ps2 or 360. Enjoy.
