Hi, I am new to the bittorrent scene, I am trying to use portforwarding and i set up a static ip under the second computer and i am using a linksys befsr41 router. I set up the portforwarding guide and forwarded a port. when i check the status of utorrent it says not connectable. Although i sometimes get 30kb/s downloads. When i do the test to see if it is forwarded properly it says no. Do i need to do this under the other computer in my house?

Sorry if i am not very specific.

ok well i will give you a quick tip if you do not get uTorrent to say everything is open. in the router browser menu make sure you type your IP. to find this start>run>cmd then ipconfig /all and then use the last three digits or less what ever is there and put that into the ip when opeing the port. It took me a while to figure out that mistake.

Hi ipirate, i tryed doing what you told me about putting in the number of my ip in the router page. I put it in and it said that i was having a n internet protocal conflict. My guess is that the other computer(1) is using that ip adress. I wonder why under ipconfig it said that number on this computer though. Anyways i got back on the internet by unchecking a static ip. Not to sure where to go from here though. I tried the portforward help but utorrent just doesent seem to be working right. My firewall is exepting utorrent so that shouldent be the problem. I have got alot of p2p programs to work (limewire,bearshare,etc.). Any more ideas would help.

Forget about setting a static ip right now; sounds like you have anyway. On the computer that utorrent is installed on, go to Start, Run, type in cmd or command and ok it then type ipconfig/all in the next page and enter, then write down your ip address, then exit. Now, go to the port forward link above and in the forwarding section, find your router, select it and on the next page find your program (utorrent), select it and follow the directions using the ip address you wrote down. Utorrent should now work. After you restart that same computer, check your ip address in ipconfig/all again. If it has changed, you will need to set a static ip and forward that, otherwise, probably not.
