Is there a way to control my bandwith on my router?

I'll give you my story first to give an idea of what I'm trying to do.

I have 2 computers
1 of the computer (we'll call it computer A) is connected to a router and that router is connected to a my cable modem.
my 2nd computer (computer B) is connected wirelessly to my computerA/router.
So often times I download some stuff on computer A and B WHILE surfing the web or playing a game online ON computer B. However when I do these 2 at the same time I load websites slow or lag on online games.


Now what I'm trying to do is set priority to my computer B so that when I play a game online or surf the web on computer it will not lag/slow down and any remaining bandwith I have goes to the downloads. I'll understand if the download speed will drastically decrease (I won't care).

So is there any way of doing such a thing?


Both computers have windows XP
my router is a linksys WRT54GS (connected on computer A)
My wireless adapter is a linksys WPC54G ver2 (connected on computer B)
I have cable road runner connection (modem model # available if needed i don't remember the exact name right now)

well you could do some port forwarding to computer B, but you wont get muchn more of a difference. Wired devices versus Wirless device will win everytime in the game of speed hands down. Theirs no substitute so id say runa wire to computer b and stop using it wirelessly, only laptop should be wireless and their not really meant for heavy duty gaming

I was going to say setup QOS. Just put the game name and port being used as high priority. You can also lower the priority of the downloading to the other computer (or the port it is plugged into). This is the easiest and most logical way. On a Linksys Router it's Applications and Gaming->QOS.

okay i found my ports for the game but this game takes 8 ports and linksys only allows me to have like 6

what should i do?

and if i lower the priority of the download program it won't go slow when thats the only thing being used right?

Okay new question

say if I had these settings below, will they be okay? (meaning i accomplished what i try to do. Have all bandwidth to computerB and remaining bandwidth not used to computerA)

please remember that computerB is connecting wirelessly



Router settings for linksys wrt54gs ver2
stuff in bold is what i have selected
Settings:

Wired QoS
-Enable Disable (the only reason i enable this even though computer B is wireless is because if its disable it wont let me do anything under these settings)
-Upstream Bandwidth: Auto (if i set to manual i can control this, but i dont know what this is)
-Device Priority: in this box i put my computerB's mac address and set it to highest priority and in the 2nd box i put computerA's mac address and set it to lowest priority
-Ethernet Port priority: port1 - 4: all enabled and all are low (i assume this part only applies to the wired connections and not my wireless so thats why all are low)
-Application priority: i didnt enable this part since ill just control it between the computers and not applications

Wireless QoS
-WMM Support: enable
-No Acknowledgement: disable



the only thing im afraid of is the device priority where i entered the mac address is under the wired QoS so i don't know or not if it ignored my wireless computer's mac address
So does these settings look right for giving most access for my wireless over my computer A?

well i know you know that you cant speed up your bandwith, if youre dowlnloading somthing using a downloading manager like (abc) then lower the download speed and lower the up load speed and limit it to 2--3 uploads at one time. might help i dont know, good luck
