You need to rip _everything_ from the DVD, including _all_ the dirs, _all_ the VOBs, etc and burn those to DVD and if you use -/+RW discs, "finalize" the disc.

Thanks for answering the question. I have some more questions.
Is there any way of just getting just the movie on dvd not the extras on to disk?
Why are some dvd 4.7G and some are around 9G(aprox) what the difference?
I have been reading and there are lots of types of DVD writers I have a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104 is this any good! And what is the difference between the shit ones and the good ones?
Thanks

doom9 has a guide on keeping just the main movie using ifoedit:

http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-menustripping.htm

Some films are encoded with high bitrates, or PCM audio, or with loads of trailers and 'making of...', all of which result in big file sizes.

doom9's has loads of good reading relating to your questions.
