After about 26 minutes of burn time, the disc tray opens and an error message reads "Please insert an empty disc to write to" even though the disc in the tray is brand new (Verbatim DVD+R up to 16x). So I abort the task and a Windows error message tells me that nerovision.exe has encountered a problem and must close. This has happened twice at the same point in the burning process.

I wanted to attach the error file that the message said was stored but can't find it . . . located in C:/Docume~ and have never been able to locate this hidden storage . . .

Any assistance is greatly appreciated . . .:-)

Hi shawanba
Sounds like your getting the error right when Nero is getting ready to burn after it's done transcoding.
You might just need a firmware for the burner - sounds like it doesn't recognize the Verbs. This is where firmware can help.

Look here and see if there is a log - you can just post the last one.
program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory.

Be sure to edit out your serial # too - they usually begin w/ 1A, 1C or 5C

Thanks binkie7 for assisting . . . BTW I read some other posts and decided to uninstall, use the general cleaner provided on the Nero website and then reinstall the Ultra 7 . . .this time burning took almost 6 hours or more because the same error occured after transcoding the file like you said . . . I wonder why the burning process took so much longer this time . . . anyway, here is the log as requested . . .

Looks like the reason your drive isn't recognizing the discs is because it's an older drive that hasn't had a firmware update since 3/2004.
16x media is 'newer' so this drive is probably going to have a problem with it. For this drive 8x or lower media would be better. Lower brun speed media is getting kinda hard to fun depending where you are.

Another option is - it may just be time to replace this drive and get a newer one that will support all formats and burn speeds. Good ones are pretty cheap now a days.

The 6 hour bit well you have 256 mb in memory so this is playing into it (processor does too) 512 mb woud be better. Add some if you can. In the mean time keep as much free as possible. No multitasking and close any unnecessary programs.

If you haven't very recently do a disc defrag and run a good registry cleaner like ccleaner. Use the cleaner and issues options. Run a antivirus and spyware scan. May help clean and speed up the pc a bit.

You can also give this program to burn a shot (free) - ImgBurn.
In Vision select burn to image recorder. This will create an .nrg file that you can burn w/ ImgBurn. If you just save it to a hard drive folder you would then use the build mode in ImgBurn to burn.

Keep us posted!
